SCBC have 3 new recycling facilities available to you located in the library.
PRINTER CARTRIDGES – these are made up of a complex combination of plastics, metals, foam, ink and toner. Throwing them into landfill represents a waste of resources and contributes to the growing problem of electronic waste. All inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and toner bottles can be placed in the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ box.
BATTERIES – Over 8,000 tonnes of batteries go into landfill each year. Batteries are one of the most dangerous common waste discarded by Australian households. Many are made from heavy metals and harmful elements such as nickel, cadmium, lead and mercury, which can pollute soil and water and harm wildlife and humans.
TOOTHBRUSH AND TOOTHPASTE – any brand of used toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, plastic toothbrush packaging, interdental brushes, wisps, pumps, stand up toothpaste bottles and any kind of non-electric toothbrush or toothpaste tube and all affiliated non-recyclable packaging.
