INTERSCHOOL CHESS COMPETITION AT SCBC

Recently a team of over thirty SCBC students participated in the Rockingham regional chess tournament, which was held at our college.

Visiting schools were Comet Bay, Halls Head College and Bunbury Catholic College. The competition was tough throughout the day with each student completing seven timed competitive games of chess.  Our Secondary team finished second in the competition whilst our Primary team played off amongst themselves. Both teams have secured spots in the WA state finals scheduled for later in the year.

The atmosphere was friendly and competitive at the same time.   Both Abraham Walsh (Primary Comp) and Sherjeel Ahmad (Secondary Comp) topped our school teams with outstanding results.  All the students received certificates and the highest scoring students received medallions for their efforts.

Both Laura Brewer (Primary) and Jade Clayson (Secondary) received awards for their efforts in the girls section of the competition.

Congratulations to our chess students! Tournament results can be viewed online @ https://au.tornelo.com/tournaments/rockingham–5
