FROM THE PRINCIPAL…

During the last 7 to 10 days, enrolments have increased by 17 additional students.

South Coast Baptist College remains a faith-inspired community, where ministry and mission sets the framework for economy and cleverness.

I was recently representing our community at a special ‘thank you function’ held by the Rockingham Salvation Army. They do an exceptional job of using limited resources to meet optimal needs. It was an honour for me to meet local clients and volunteers. Their heart-fullness for our community is inspiring. When visiting them 7 years ago, I remember reading a colourful sign at the front of their old premises that began with … ‘for the love of Christ compels us … ’.

And so it is for us at SCBC.

Our vision is to be a thriving Christian community that inspires learning as a means of transforming and empowering lives.

By the end of this year, we will have opened a new $4.6M STEM building, and employed 12 new staff for 2018. In addition, we’ve conceptualised the creation of a Wellness Centre to increase support for our students. Building construction will be completed over the summer holidays in preparation for the start of next year.

The purpose of the Wellness Centre is to increase support for students that can benefit from specialised assistance, to optimise their educational ‘health’ (physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social). It is our intention to further attract tertiary qualified health professionals who share our passion for helping young people experience optimal wellbeing.

We have much to look forward to together in 2018. On behalf of all staff at SCBC, I wish you and your family a blessed time together this Christmas.

‘For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

 In His service,

Des Mitchell
