YEAR 8 BEACH ACTIVITY DAY

On Monday, 12th March 2018, the Year 8 classes headed down to Palm Beach for a whole day social activity day. This year the weather was perfect for the occasion with clear skies and warm weather.

The purpose of the day was to give students an opportunity to spend time with each other and their form teachers in a fun and relaxed environment, which hopefully strengthened relationships with each other and the school.

Students were placed into three groups and engaged in activities ranging from kayaking, jumping off the jetty and team games on the beach – such as tug of war and capture the flag. Students were also treated with a sausage in a bun and can of soft drink for lunch.

Here is what some of the students had to say about the event:

“I found it a great experience. I had never been jetty jumping before but I did it for the first time and I found it amazing. I found it great fun and a good opportunity to bond with the people from our year level.”

“It was really interesting to see all the while snorkeling under the jetty.”

“I have to say the best part of the day for me was the jetty jumping. It was amazing. It felt as if you were flying for a few seconds until gravity kicked in and pulled you down towards the water. The rush of adrenaline as you fell felt amazing and then the refreshing coolness of the water would hit you. Jetty jumping was the best activity I did on that day.”
