STATE MATHLETICS TEACHER CHALLENGE – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Over the course of Term 2, some of the Primary Teachers at South Coast Baptist College participated in a state-wide Mathletics Teacher Challenge. This competition was open to all West Australian teachers, and close to 300 teachers across Western Australia chose to take up the challenge. The Primary teachers involved, were ranked on a combined highest score in Live Mathletics on Levels 1 and 5 over a two-week time frame.

Mrs Mel Horton, the Primary School’s Digital Technology Specialist Teacher placed first on the Mathletics Live Leader Board out of all Primary School Teacher entrants across the state. Mel was answering close to two mental mathematics computations per second to claim the winner’s prize. Mathletics is an on-line Mathematics resource that South Coast Baptist College Primary School students use regularly across the year.

On Thursday, 28th June 2018, the Mathletics Challenge Organiser, Rob Langlands (3P Learning Regional Manager WA) presented Mel Horton with her award and prize for winning the 2018 WA Live Mathletics Teachers Challenge.
