One of our Year 12 students from the Prefect team, Graham Duxbury wrote this article regarding their visit to the Parliament House, hosted by Reece Whitby.
The Prefect Team attended a lunch at Parliament House on Tuesday 14th August, hosted by the local member for Baldivis Reece Whitby. Meeting Mr Whitby was a great experience and we got to explore his perspective on society as well as hear some of his future plans for the area.
During our delicious 3 course lunch Mr Whitby shared his life story, explaining that he had always been interested in politics but went down a different path first, switching to his current career and passion later in life. This was a relief to hear as many of us are currently debating what to do after school and it is good to see an example of the fact that what we choose now doesn’t have to be the end of our career paths forever.
We were also treated to a brief tour throughout Parliament House and when we had finished our lunch we got to sit in on a bit of question time and see our politicians in action.
