FOOTBALL

School Sport WA Sam Kerr Southern Metropolitan Regional Championships

2019 is the 13th year of Primary Football Championships for Girls.

A big thanks is extended to Mr. Tony Carvajal and his team for coordinating the tournament. Thanks also to John Curtin for arranging the referees across today and updating the scoreboard.

The tournament was played in wonderful conditions and supported by so many of our parents.

It was great to see so many teams; Banksia Park PS, Aubin Grove PS, Coolbellup PS, Coogee PS, Phoenix PS and Wellard PS all attending this event.

The girls had a great time and played 5 games. They went undefeated all day without conceding a goal (the tiny goals made life interesting). After winning today’s tournament they now move into the state final which will take place at Aubin Grove on Friday May the 10th, after school hours.

Thanks to Coach Adi for putting so much into improving the standard of girls’ football at SCBC. This was evident for all to see in their game-play today. Several parents from the other primary schools were amazed at how good the SCBC Primary Girls played at this event. This was great encouragement for the football program at the College and our efforts in improving the quality of girls’ football in our region.

Here are some comments expressed by some of the girls who played today:

Izzy- “I liked how we tried our best and how Macy saved all of the goals.”

Molly- “it was good how everyone tried their best and never gave up. Thank you, Coach Adi, for all your help, we would not be this good if you weren’t our coach.”

Georgia- “I really liked how all the girls were passing to each other, we played team football really well. I also just want to say thank you to coach Adi for your amazing effort for coaching us.”

Sasha – “Everybody did really well today, and everybody did their best. Thanks coach Adi.”

Caitlin- “Everyone was great, and this is the best thing to be doing on only my second day at SCBC. I hope everyone had a great time and that we win the State Finals next Term.”

Davena – “Today was a good day. Even though there were some challenges we passed them together as a team. I hope this stays the same at our next tournament.”

Keira- “This tournament was the best, even though it was very tiring. We all enjoyed it and worked together to win the zone finals today.”

Katy- “I really enjoyed how we worked together, passed the ball around and tried our best at today’s football tournament.”
