At the end of Week Two, our College was privileged to host US teacher developer Donna Kortvelesey, an expert in AVID classroom strategies. Donna is a national staff developer and consultant for AVID Centre of San Diego, CA, and the AVID Australia Education Manager.   

Donna delivered two days of targeted professional development with selected Primary and Secondary staff, targeting the key areas of Writing, Reading, Inquiry, Organisation and Collaboration. Participating staff reported that these workshops equipped them with a range of high engagement strategies to use with their classes.

Donna’s visit provided another valuable opportunity for our staff to engage with ‘best practice’ in teaching and learning.
