TWO OF OUR STUDENTS MAKE THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL PHYSICS TEAM!
In a wonderful result for our school, two of our students, Anna Watts and Conan John, have been selected to be part of the 5-member national team to represent Australia at the IYPT (International Young Physicist Tournament) 2020 to be held in Romania. They performed outstandingly at the IYPT Australia Challenge held from 10 to 11 December 2019 hosted by Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Students studied open-ended real-world physics problems and debated their findings with other teams. Our team emerged as National runner-up behind John Monash Science School from Victoria.
Seth Green was the vital third member of our team and had an excellent tournament as well. Anna was the overall 2nd best presenter in the competition. Mr Gideon Choo and Mrs Rebekah Farrant were the team mentors. The trip was kindly supported by a Student Science Engagement grant from the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. We look forward eagerly to hear what other physics adventures await Anna and Conan in 2020!
