MEET TOBI OUR STORY DOG

Tobi has been enjoying his role in the College as our weekly Story Dog and has learnt a whole lot about a variety of subjects.  The aim of Story Dogs is to make reading fun, so children seek out books and become confident, lifelong readers.  By having Tobi around for the individual sessions, the student feels relaxed, reducing the fear they may have in reading.

Students read the story to Tobi and the handler asks questions along the way such as “can you explain this part of the story as I don’t think Tobi fully understood that part”.  The student can choose the book each week and is invited into the year-long program which measures their progress.

In between his sessions he has a lot of admirers giving him attention and affection.

Please remember to contact me, Nicki Campbell, if there are any changes (i.e. new posting, deployment, exercise/training work up, family breakdown) that may affect your child in needing extra support.
