The Pelicans are back people!

The Cross Country and House Games competition has seen some brilliant achievements from our students which is building a strong platform for success throughout the rest of the year.

Thank you to all who ran in the Cross Country. Participation is a key to success and it was great to see so much red in the running groups. A special shout out to Abby Blizard (Year 8), Darcy Clarke (Year 11) and Chante Botha (Year 12) who came first in their year groups. Winning 3 races outright is a fantastic achievement for our House. We also had a number of podium finishes with Year 8’s Abbie Rennie and Tyler Nyabinde and Year 9’s Drew Clarke, Brooke Burdett and Lewis Hodgson taking either 2nd or 3rd. Congratulations to these students on their fantastic achievement.

The day took us from individual achievements to group success where we came equal first in the inaugural House Games! We competed against the other Houses in the same year group across a range of sports throughout Term 1, culminating with the finals which took place after the Cross Country. Our Years 7 and 10 teams played out for first prize while our Years 8, 9 & 11/12 teams competed in the 3rd vs 4th playoff. We had an extremely great result with every team winning their match resulting in equal first place. This is our first competition win and provides a great foundation for future success. Congratulations to all who participated and in particular to our MVP’s: Sasha Bolton (Year 7), Carl Gozos (Year 8), Antonio Gatani (Year 9), Charlie Garnham (Year 10) and Darcy Clarke (Year 11/12).

Finally, we announced our Pelican House Spirit award for the student who best exemplified our value of love as expressed through care, contribution, courage and sense of community. That student was Hunta Wardell. Well done, Hunta.

With our best results coming thus far, we can’t wait for future House events this year. Let’s go!
