PIKANINI 2

In the past few months, we have celebrated so many special events and moments in Pikanini 2. We got to celebrate NAIDOC week where Miss Joy set up a writing activity on our sand table with reference sheets of symbols found in Aboriginal art displayed above it so that our children could attempt to copy these in the sand.

We had the most entertaining pyjama day celebrations, our children got to dress up all week in pyjamas and we got to watch some very adorable movies. The daily popcorn was the highlight, and it was heartwarming to observe all the children relaxing in their pyjamas, eating popcorn, and watching movies, feeling right at home in our early childhood setting.

Our dental week was wonderful as we had Gianna’s mother come in to give us a highly informative session on how to take care of our teeth through daily dental hygiene practices.

Book week was also great, the children came in dressed as different characters each day and bought their favourite books for us to read to the class. We, (our educators and children), also all dressed up as “Where’s Wally,” and we had some awesome dress-ups on the day.

We celebrated science week and had Christopher’s mum give us some valuable input for our daily science experiments. The children learned to measure and calculate, they learned about their bodies and how they work, the questions arising from these daily discussions being invaluable to our ongoing learning and programming.

We sadly have to say goodbye to Miss Joy, our wonderful room leader who has led us this past year. We are all going to miss her so much, educators and children, but we wish her all the best on her new adventures.
