YEAR 7

‘Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish.’ (Jonah 2: 1 NLT).

This Term the Year 7s attended their camp at Camp Kerem in Bullsbrook. They participated in many team building activities such as High Ropes, Archery, Team Games, Rock-climbing, Orienteering and the mazes at Outback Splash. They had an amazing week of teambuilding and fun as they connected with fellow students and teachers.

In the evenings some of the highlights for students included Spy Games, Capture the Flag, roasting marshmallows a movie night (complete with skittles and popcorn), as well as our devotional themes based around the book of Jonah.

On the final day we finished up with a tug-o-war competition between the Houses, which saw Boodalung Form Class take the honours for 2022 as the winning House.

As Head of Year, I have appreciated witnessing the growth of different students as they overcame many personal fears through their engagement in the various activities and as they supported and encouraged one another whilst working as a team.

We thank our amazing staff camping team as well as the Camp Kerem staff for all their organisation, care and support of our Year 7 students, who made the camp a memorable experience.

To conclude our news, we will highlight our Year 7 – Widi Form Class, with a few lines about their camp experiences.

Widi Form, Camp Experiences

My best experience of camp was the activities like high ropes and archery even though it challenged me I still had fun. I also had a lot of fun at Outback Splash. We played mini golf and saw the koalas.

Zano Zuma

I personally had lots of fun at camp, especially being able to hang out with friends but also get to know the teachers better. Some of my favourite activities at camp included the high ropes, because even though I am scared of heights the lady helped get a lot further than I thought I could, and I had lots of fun. I also enjoyed the spy games we played on the first night, because the teachers asked us to do silly things to get away and it was so funny. One of the things I enjoyed the most were the devotions, I was really inspired and I learned a lot. I had a great time at camp.

Arwen Meyerink

My favourite thing we did on camp was going on the High Ropes and Rock-climbing. It was challenging going on both courses but so much fun in the end. My favourite part was the Zipline at the end of the High Ropes course.

Hayden Wren

The thing I enjoyed most at camp was the high ropes. I really liked sliding down the zipline at the top of the high ropes. Overall, camp was a great experience.
