A VISIT WITH MARK GREENWOOD AND FRANE LESSAC

On Monday, 5th September, Mark Greenwood (Author) and Frane Lessac (Illustrator) came to visit the Years 5 and 6 students.

Year 6 students have been studying Mark Greenwood’s books all term, so it was inspiring to have him share all his ideas and tips for creating books.

The Years 5 and 6 students have been studying illustrators in Art with Mrs Ball. Frane ran a workshop to share all her ideas and also give the students a chance to create their own illustrations.

Here are some students’ reflections.

Mark was a very interesting man, he knew a lot about history and he was very kind.  Mark had a lot of stories in him and had a lot of fun adventures and objects to tell us about.  He also had a lot to say about being an author and he was very funny.  We all loved hearing from him.  Thank you, Mark!

Frane Lessac is an Australian illustrator who happens to illustrate Mark Greenwoods work while also being his wife.  She told us about illustrating any story and how to lay out your books.  At the end of the session, she taught us how to make these really cool Ned Kelly masks with information on the inside.  Her visit was great to experience.
