As we dive into another exciting month of learning and laughter at Pikanini 1, we’re thrilled to share all the wonderful moments and achievements the children have been experiencing. Our little stars are growing more confident and expressive with each passing day!
Getting Their Attention! Over the past few months, we’ve been focusing on enhancing our communication with the children. We’ve noticed that gaining their visual attention before giving instructions has been highly effective, especially during daily routines and transitions. This approach helps create a smooth and engaging environment for everyone.
Music! Our budding musicians have been having a blast singing songs with actions and exploring church hymns in various languages. The children’s enthusiasm for singing knows no bounds! We’ve taken our musical journeys outdoors under the shade of the trees and even aboard our imaginary boat.
Development Delights! Our dedicated educators have been closely observing the children’s development in various skills. It’s heartwarming to see how engaged and enthusiastic they become when participating in group activities that challenge them socially, emotionally, and physically. Sensory play continues to be a big hit, keeping their curious minds and busy hands occupied.
NAIDOC Week Fun! During NAIDOC Week, we engaged the children in a variety of activities to celebrate and learn about Indigenous cultures. Handprint painting was a colourful highlight! Each child chose their favourite colour, and our educators helped them create beautiful handprints, complete with their names.
Yarning Circle Time! In our forums, we have been incorporating yarning circles where the children have the opportunity to share their thoughts and stories before we settle down to read a book or sing songs. This practice fosters communication skills and a sense of community among our little learners.
Book Week Adventures! Book Week was a blast! Both educators and children dressed up as their favourite book characters, sparking creativity and imagination throughout the centre. We celebrated the joy of reading and storytelling in style!
Learning Outcome (L/O) Focus – 1.3: Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities when they begin to:
- Celebrate and Share: Our children are learning to celebrate their contributions and achievements with each other, fostering a sense of self-worth.
- Explore Identities: Through dramatic play, they explore different identities and perspectives, nurturing empathy and understanding.
Thank you for being an essential part of our Pikanini 1 family. We look forward to the coming months filled with growth, learning, and delightful moments.
