Over the past few weeks since our Board had to sadly make the difficult decision to close the SCBC gym academy elite training wing, we have been in discussions regarding the possibility of a commercial gym academy club owned by Mr Leo Kimble, Head Gym coach, in partnership with Mrs Melissa Ellis a qualified WAG coach, and their team, to cater for SCBC gym academy students, as well as students from other schools for their elite training programs. The only component holding this solution up was finding a suitable venue. 

We are delighted to inform College families that a suitable venue located in Port Kennedy has been located which is three times the size of our gymnasium and which will potentially cater for a greater number of students across several schools making this enterprise far more viable, without the practical restrictions of a club model trying to operate within the restrictions of a school’s regulatory framework. There is still some work to do to prepare the venue but information has been sent by Mrs Ellis to gym academy families about the project. 

We are working to support this enterprise by negotiating a plan for the new club regarding our elite training equipment. The new club is called Phoenix Gymsports.

Mr Leo Kimble and Mrs Melissa Ellis are two passionate individuals with more than a combined 40 years of gym experience between them, who are sure to make this opportunity emerge. This will be great news for Gym academy families but also for the wider community in the local area.
