Pikanini 2, we believe that focusing on each child as an individual supports their growth and development to their fullest potential. Our educators carefully observe the children to understand their interests, strengths, and areas for growth, using these insights to plan meaningful and engaging activities.
We’ve observed significant progress in the children’s language skills this term. Educators engage in purposeful interactions, incorporating daily practices such as acknowledging the Traditional Owners, participating in devotion, reading familiar stories, and singing nursery rhymes. Many children confidently recite parts of the Acknowledgement of Country and predict what comes next in familiar stories, reflecting their growing language abilities. Counting activities are also a focus, helping the children develop early numeracy skills in a playful and supportive way.
We keep families updated on their child’s learning journey, sharing progress and inviting collaboration. We celebrated Grandparents’ Day and Children’s Week this term with a wonderful turnout of parents and grandparents. Their presence and support are deeply appreciated, and we value the strong sense of community this creates.
Skill-building is central to our program. Repetition in routines helps children build self-confidence and self-esteem, while the KIDDO program offers games inspired by gymnastics, promoting balance, coordination, and physical development. Sensory play activities, like sorting and connecting coloured blocks, foster creativity and problem-solving skills. We also provide opportunities for dramatic play, where children express a range of emotions and develop social skills in a safe environment.
Outdoors, our “wild space” and garden invite exploration and discovery. Children enjoy the freedom to roam, investigate, and connect with nature, building confidence in navigating their environment.
We are excited to work on Christmas crafts and decorations with the children as we approach the festive season. They enthusiastically practice their Christmas songs and dance, bringing joy and a sense of celebration to our room.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more of your child’s learning and experiences with you!
