KODOMO TERM1 2025

This term has been a fun time of discovering, settling, learning and encouraging as we have been getting to know our new friends for 2025.

Our Kodomo friends are eager and enthusiastic learners and have had an engaging experience with our Wild Animals display in the Kodomo room during the month of February. The exciting launch of Kodomo’s Ice Cream shop was in March. Our friends have been enjoying making ice creams of various flavours, operating the ‘cash registers’, and working with pretend money at the same time. We are learning good social skills by ensuring all our ‘customers’ are satisfied with their purchases and taking turns operating the various equipment in the shop.

We have been skilling our friends to apply their own sunscreen, take care of their own belongings, recognise their own names, and find their personalised placemats during mealtimes. We are still working on pouring our own water into a cup and negotiating the wooden stools in the piazza area. Watch this space!

We have celebrated Australia Day, by creating a Koala face using recyclable paper shopping bags and beautiful Chinese Fans for the Chinese New Year. Love Day (Valentine’s Day) was a time to reflect and be reminded that we need to LOVE our friends because God loved us first – 1 John 4 v 19. We made a special craft for our families using our unique handprints stuck to folded arms and a large heart and, when stretched out, revealed the words… “I Love You This Much”. We also added a mini bunch of homemade paper roses that our friends gifted to their loved ones.

We have learnt about wild animals as well as creatures in the deep blue sea. We enjoyed lots of water play outdoors on very hot days and did sand play and chalk drawings to explore different textures. And so much more. It’s been a fun term of growth and discovery, and we look forward to the other exciting terms ahead.
