Over the last term in Pikanini One Room, we have been focusing on strengthening the children’s language. Throughout our daily forums, the children have the opportunity to listen to and sing along to the ABC phonics song, along with reading books in a group and individually reading to the children.
On the 28th of March, we invited the Pikanini One families to a meet and greet afternoon tea, which turned out to be fantastic with a great turnout. The families had the opportunity to meet other families, familiarise themselves with the educators in the room and find out information about the room and program.
We also have been focusing on sensory exploration, providing the children with inviting activities such as water play, goop and ice play.
Before the transition to inside from outdoor play, the children have been practicing holding the donut rope to practice for various emergency drills. We try to do this to familiarise the children so that when an evacuation happens, the children know exactly what to do.
