WELCOME TO THE BEGINNING OF 2025 – CHILDCARE

2025 – ‘Gather to Unite’

On behalf of all staff, WELCOME to new and returning families!  We hope your journey with us has been a positive and enriching experience so far. It has been a wonderful start to the year, and we are excited to share some highlights from Term 1 with you.

At the beginning of the year, we inducted three new Room Leaders, and our educators have been dedicated to creating a warm, inviting, and nurturing environment for all children. We also welcomed two SCBC Year 11 students, Charli Rodwell and Chloe Fraser, who have joined our team as part of a two-year School-Based Traineeship in Early Childhood Education. A particularly special moment for us was welcoming Chloe, who attended our Koorlongka Kindy in 2013—bringing her journey full circle!

Term 1 Highlights

Australia Day was acknowledged with a focus on reflection, respect, and community spirit. Our educators facilitated discussions and activities that celebrated friendships, resilience, and the diverse cultures within our Centre.

We had a fantastic time celebrating Crazy Hair Day (March 18), where we came together to support Cystic Fibrosis. The children loved showing off their creative hairstyles, and we contributed to an important cause through our gold coin donations. Harmony Week (March 21) was another wonderful celebration of cultural diversity, filled with engaging activities, games, and our Harmony Day Family Picnic. It was heartwarming to see families enjoying African drumming sessions, sand and face painting, a ball pit, and the beautiful cultural foods and attire displayed.

Thank you to our incredible team for making these events so special! Your planning, dedication, and warmth made a lasting impact, and we truly appreciate the effort you put into creating meaningful experiences for the children and families. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be prouder of our community.

Engagement & Professional Development

Seeing such a great turnout at our Meet the Team afternoon tea sessions was fantastic. These provided a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with educators, discuss children’s programs and wellbeing, and share expectations.  We appreciated the meaningful conversations, and your feedback was incredibly encouraging.

In February, we attended the Rockingham Early Years Group networking meeting, where we had the opportunity to connect with valuable services such as Ngala, Inclusion Support, and local community libraries. Strengthening these connections allows us to support our children and families better.

Our Kindy Teacher also participated in a language and literacy workshop, aligning with the EYLF V.2 and Kindy Curriculum Guidelines and shared her learnings with the team. Additionally, our educators engaged in a Behaviour Management Webinar to enhance our strategies for supporting children’s self-regulation and responsible behaviour. A Supervision Webinar further reinforced the importance of clear communication and shared responsibility in ensuring children’s safety. We are proud to say that our team has already begun integrating these new strategies into their daily practice, enriching the learning and care we provide.

Looking Ahead

We’re looking forward to the upcoming April school holiday program! Our Vacation Care program is packed with exciting activities, including Pyjama Day, Water Splash Day, Game Vault, Rebound Port Kennedy, Bowling, an Easter Egg Hunt, ANZAC Day celebrations, and Minute to Win It games—to name a few!

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in our community. These early years of education and care are precious, and we encourage you to cherish every moment. Enjoy the little conversations with your children—sharing their learning journey is a gift.
