Term 2 in the studio has been excellent! We have re-introduced an overhead projector into the space and been playing with coloured cellophane and shadows, projecting our drawings, and seeing what kind of interesting shadows some of our donated recycled plastic packaging makes. Work is continuing on 3D sculpting for our Koorlongka kids and some of our pre-kindy Kodomo kids. Our construction has moved from focussing on robots to vehicles and cubby houses, based on the interests of the kids. We’ve done some acrylic pour paintings, painting with stencils, making prints from bicarb, vinegar, food colouring, soap and poster paints, typing on our computers, lots of digital drawing and painting with our drawing tablets, a whole lot of music making, singing into a microphone, operating a large frog puppet, introducing some new construction toys into our Wild Space, construction with nuts and bolts, learning basic modelling techniques through visual instruction sheets and demonstration and we’ve also been working on a large Harmony Tree project for the entire term which will be up on display hopefully before next term.
