Book Week at SCBC: A Celebration of Stories and Creativity

Our 2025 Book Fair Dressup celebration was full of imagination and storytelling fun, inspired by The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s 2025 Book Week theme “Book an Adventure”.

Students from Kindy to Year 6 brought their favourite book characters to life parading their colourful and creative costumes at the primary basketball courts with our best-dressed students selected based on originality, effort, and link to a book.

Students across Primary, from Kindy to Year 6, participated with enthusiasm on the parade, making the day a true celebration of our school community.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible parents, grandparents, family members, and friends who helped make this day so special. Your time, creativity, and support in preparing costumes truly brought the event to life — we couldn’t have done it without you!

The Book Fair was once again a resounding success with over $6,900 in sales.

Every purchase at the book fair earns a commission for the school which will go towards refreshing our library collection with engaging new titles that reflect our student interests, support learning and keep our shelves current and interesting. We’re excited to announce that our next Book Fair will take place in Week 2 of Term 4, from 22 October to 24 October, running in conjunction with Grandparents’ Day on Saturday 26 October. Families can look forward to a special time of connection, storytelling, and a shared love of books — a beautiful way to honour the important role grandparents play in our children’s lives.
