On Friday, 23rd May, the Year 1 cohort participated in an exciting Muddy Gully incursion hosted by Educated by Nature. The students had a wonderful time exploring various forms of natural clay through a rich sensory experience.
Natural clay provides tactile opportunities that engage the senses, spark creativity, and support both fine and gross motor development. This incursion encouraged children to take sensory risks in a safe and supportive environment.
Sloppy, firm, gooey, and muddy clay was available for both small-scale and full-body exploration. Students also enjoyed face painting using natural ochres, offering a meaningful connection to Indigenous culture. Water play added another layer of fun, with opportunities to tip, pour, collect, and splash.
