Bambini Room Term 3

The children in Bambini have grown so much since starting. Some children will be moving to Pikanini 1 by the end of September. The children transitioning have started sitting at a table for mealtimes and sleeping on a mattress instead of a cot for sleep times. All children are learning to wipe/clean their hands before mealtimes as our skilling focus, encouraging them to learn good hygiene.

This month, we are focusing on the season SPRING and doing various activities associated with this season. Building on the children’s cognitive skills, they are building block towers and doing peg puzzles. The children and educators recently created a Djeran canvas for our room – which is the Aboriginal season we are currently in. We all added various layers of pink, yellow and blue paint.

For dramatic play, the children will be playing with toy pigs in “mud” for a sensory activity – for our rainy season. Children will visit the garden area and help plant flowers and water them, connecting with nature and enjoying the outdoors.

The children recently enjoyed a water play activity with spring flowers, cups and spoons to pour and scoop/mix. This was a lovely way for the children to use their senses to explore nature in a play provocation, which provides many different learning outcomes.

We focus on language each day, reading books together and singing songs. One of the parents gave us feedback that they would like us to focus on letter sounds, so we have included this in our daily teachings.

The children continue to visit and explore the learning spaces around them, often visiting the Studio and exploring the recycled items, the technology resources and exploring their creativity with art. They also enjoy the Wild Space, exploring the mud kitchen area and the water play space.

Father’s Day and Book Week were special occasions we celebrated this term. The children created special cards and mugs for their dads or special people in their lives, and we filled them with yummy chocolates! For Book Week we had so much fun! Each educator planned a special day with a different theme and fun activities. We set up our theme each day, including a fun photo backdrop area for the educators and children to have photos.

It has been wonderful to watch the children grow and learn. We will miss our friends moving up, but we look forward to welcoming some new friends starting soon.
