On Wednesday, 27 August, the Hospitality Group Training (HGT) Awards Night was held at RAC Stadium in Perth, celebrating excellence across the hospitality industry.
SCBC’s Hospitality Department was honoured to be a finalist for the School Partnership Award, recognising the College’s commitment to providing real-world learning opportunities for students through our strong industry connections.
We are also very proud of Year 12 student Charlie Headley, who was a finalist for School-Based Apprentice of the Year. Charlie’s dedication, hard work, and passion for hospitality have been inspiring to staff and students alike.
The celebrations continued with two of our SCBC alumni receiving recognition. Mathew Avery won Best 2nd Year Apprentice Chef (Cookery), while Charlotte Harkness was a finalist in the same category. Both Mathew and Charlotte began their journeys in our school-based apprenticeship program and are now just weeks away from achieving their Certificate of Trade in Cooking.
These achievements are a wonderful reflection of the talent, effort, and commitment of our students, past and present, as well as the dedication of our Hospitality Department staff who support them every step of the way.
Congratulations to Charlie, Mathew, Charlotte, and the Hospitality team — you’ve made SCBC very proud!
