This week Kindy attended a drumming Incursion, this was hosted by Rhythm Culture. During this lesson we learnt how to play Djembe drums, using our fingers to make music on the skins of the drums . Djembe drums are an African instrument made from animal skins, some animal hair with traditional patterns carved into each drum. During this incursion, each child played their own drum and learnt unique fun musical patterns which incorporate the dynamics of sound, tempo and rhythm.
In Kindy we explore concepts, genres and instruments of the music world. At SCBC we believe that an authentic experience of topics such as music provides a meaningful and engaging experience for each student. Music plays a vital role in children learning about their bodies spatial awareness, coordination and more importantly the right and left parts of our brains syncing together. We had a lot of fun being, loud, dancing and making our bodies move to the beat.
