Term 3 for the Minasan OSHC room has been a fun-filled time, starting with the July school holidays. The children enjoyed cooking activities and group challenges designed to promote teamwork and collaboration. We also went on an exciting excursion to Amaze Miniature Park, where the kids had a great time exploring the model railway and towns, the hedge maze, and a playing in the large playground.
The children have been enjoying before and after school care, hanging out with their friends and exploring new indoor and outdoor resources that were acquired for the room, such as new balls and drawing/craft materials. Some of our older children have also been making good use of laptops donated by the College – working on homework assignments or occasionally playing educational games with their friends.
Our Kindy and Pre-Primary kids have been working hard and doing an excellent job of becoming more independent during drop-off and pick-up times. While they still need occasional reminders to gather all their belonging, they have been able to collect their things and pack their bags with minimal assistance. They especially enjoy trying to outdo each other in walking in a single file-turning it into a fun and friendly competition between year groups.
Some of our older children had the wonderful opportunity to help lay out stepping stones in our Wild Space Garden area for Child Protection Week. They got to work together to carefully place the stones, so they were clearly visible and spaced closely enough for children of all ages to walk on and enjoy.
Just like this term that has just passed, we are looking forward to many more new and exciting experiences during the October school holidays and term 4. We can’t wait to share more in the next newsletter, where we will update you again on life in the Minasan OSHC room.
