Dear College Families
At the end of another wonderful year and the significant year of the 40th Anniversary of the College, we prepare to celebrate the joyous Christmas season with family and friends. May your holidays and festivities be filled with blessings as you celebrate the greatest gift our planet has ever been given, the unconditional love of Almighty God who sent his Son Jesus to walk amongst us, teach us and give us the gift of eternal life through grace.
Congratulations to Mr Anthony Moses our Head of Primary who leaves us at the end of this year to take on the role of Principal Dale Christian College. This is the second promotion to Principal at another College that a leader at SCBC has been offered, within the last two years.
Mr Moses has served SCBC as Head of Primary for the past 19 years. He has been an outstanding Head of Primary, and we shall miss him. His very first school as an educator however was Dale Christian College so it is a lovely serendipity for him to be returning to where it all started for him, but now as Principal. We thank Anthony for all that he has done in leading our Primary School and we wish him the very best as he takes on his new position in 2026. We are currently recruiting for our new Executive Head of Primary and news will be forthcoming once that process has come to its completion. We look forward to whom God will send to continue the good legacy.
We also thank Mrs Jo Gugdeon, our Deputy Head of Primary K-2 who leaves us at the end of this year to take up a post in Karratha where her family and grandchildren are now based. Jo is an exceptional leader and leaves behind a legacy of best practice in early childhood education. Mrs Adele Hutton as Acting Deputy Head of Primary K-2 will be leading in this space during 2026 and we thank her for accepting the responsibility.
We also farewell Ms Marilyn Smoker our Head of Mathematics who leaves us at the end of this year. We thank Ms Smoker for her past three years of service to SCBC and we wish her the very best in her new position closer to her home.
We congratulate all our students on an exceptional year of achievement. In particular I wish to make special commendation to our GATE students who qualified for the national championships in Robotics for their high achievement in STEM related science outcomes. We wish our team the best and cheer them on as they compete in Adelaide for the nationals at end of the year.
We hope parents and guardians have enjoyed as a community our presentation evenings and end of year celebrations in Primary and Childcare. We hope our secondary students enjoyed their camp week and the opportunity to foster good friendships with their peers, especially after the hard effort with examinations and final assessments. As the year comes to a close, I wish to thank our amazing staff team for their devotion and tireless efforts to ensure our students receive the quality education we are all passionate about delivering at South Coast Baptist College. It is such a pleasure to work with people who are highly engaged and deeply committed to their profession and to our students. Our graduates always tell me at the end of each year how much they appreciated the staff of SCBC. From our entire Staff Team and Governance, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas, safe and happy holidays and we look forward to a New Year of possibilities to provide opportunities and good outcomes in the lives of our students. As we finish the Year of the 40th Anniversary of the College we reflect on all that has happened and that has been achieved. It’s been incredible! Thank you to our College community for your support and engagement. We value greatly what we partner together with you. Merry Christmas everyone!
