FROM THE PRINCIPAL Term 2 – 2026

Dear College Families

Term Two has come to an end so quickly!

We congratulate our students for their many achievements and celebrate with them at the end of a full term of events.

We congratulate our Primary Students who participated and achieved outstanding results at their very first JACC cross-country carnival this Term. Our students achieved fourth place out of twenty-four competing private schools in the state, and our girls placed 2nd overall. The ACC is the premier interschool sports Organisation for the Associated & Catholic Colleges across WA for private schools offering a co-educational learning environment. To date the ACC has been the respected Secondary, private school provider for interschool sports and this first attempt to provide a high-level sports competition for primary private school students, has been an incredible success. Well done SCBC Primary School on your amazing results!

Our Primary School students also looked incredible in a cosplay of colourful costumes for Bookweek this Term. I spotted our Head of Primary, Mr Holmes donning an enormous hair piece of orange hair flames which matched his red face paint, together with the Primary Deputies in other extraordinary blue and yellow creations depicting character emotions. They looked wonderful, as did the students and all the primary staff! It was also such a pleasure for me to spend time reading to our Kindy children the read aloud text for Bookweek, ‘Luna Roo’. Congratulations to the whole Primary team for encouraging the essential skill of reading and supporting Bookweek and thank you to our parents and guardians for the fabulous costumes in which you dressed your children as they joined in the community fun!

Our Secondary students presented a talented version of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ this Term and students should be congratulated for their performances.

Our Staff and senior students were working hard as secondary students prepared for their examinations this semester. There is always pressure when swatting for examinations and we are proud of the commitment our students show towards their studies. We know that our Secondary students engage whole heartedly in both their curriculum and co-curriculum opportunities. The SCBC cultural constant of dedicated teachers and support from home, enables them to achieve their goals.

This term our College was honoured by the prestigious magazine Businessview which has an international audience in the USA, Canada, Oceania and of course, Australia. The Businessview May edition 2026 featured South Coast Baptist College on the front cover and as the main Feature article on Education. We were very pleased with the overall write up which acknowledges the good work of our College and the heart we have for our students. You may like to read the article in the link below.

Thank you to College families for the responses to the surveys about the three-week mid-year break next year and the April school holidays for 2027. The results about preferences were so close regarding the April break, but it was good to hear from families so that we could prepare accordingly and in advance for the structures of the 2027 academic year. The revised Term dates are now uploaded to the College website for your convenience and timely planning.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and refreshing holiday as we break for the semester. We look forward to welcoming back all students on Wednesday 22nd July, for Term Three.

Warm regards

Dawn Clements
