The Year 12s have started their last ever Term 1, and what a term it has been. As I am writing this, I have already heard multiple students talk about the fantastic time they had at our Year 12 Ball.
The Ball was held at the Pan Pacific, and the students certainly raised the bar. Everyone looked fantastic dressed up and brought a lot of energy. On the night, it was difficult to get students to stop dancing. It was just great to see our entire cohort celebrating and enjoying the company of their peers.
On the night, we had a couple of awards which the students all voted for:
- Belle of the Ball: Layla Van Gaalen-Prentice
- Beau of the Ball: Jackson Le Scelle
- Life of the Party: Dylan Blake, who dominated the dance floor all night!
- Riskiest Heels: Zoe Kelley
- Most Unique Suit: Harry Ghuman
And the last one needs a bit of explaining. All teachers in attendance have been practicing a Line Dance, which we performed and taught to the students. From this dance, we chose a student who showed the most commitment and skill. The award was given to Lucy Cherril for the best line dancer.
In other news, we had our College Swimming Carnival. This was our Year 12s’ final Swimming Carnival. They had access to a ‘hangout zone’ in the kids’ swimming pool, which we filled with inflatables for them to sit back and enjoy the day. We were very pleased with the attendance of the Year 12s and the example that they have set for younger years. It was a fantastic day all around, and I am very proud of all of our participants.
As Term 2 comes along, we again have a jam-packed calendar. In our extended forms, we continue to host assemblies, keeping safe lessons, and Universities/TAFEs coming in to talk to us. Towards the end of the term, we have our Year 12 Retreat at Serpentine Baptist Campsite. This camp is an overnight retreat which focuses on providing our Year 12s with an opportunity to reset and reflect. The dates for this camp are the 16th -17th of June.
Well done on finishing the first term successfully, Year 12s! Two more to go!
