HEAD OF PRIMARY – TERM 1, 2025

Term 1 in the Primary School has been a term full of excitement, growth, and challenge. We commenced the 2025 academic year with 679 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, including 72 new Kindergarten students and 66 new enrolments across Pre-Primary to Year 6. I hope that all new students and their families have felt warmly welcomed and have settled in well to life at the College.

One of the highlights of the term was our Founders Day celebration on the 11th of February. This special event honoured the vision and commitment of our Foundation Staff and College members, and provided the perfect occasion to officially introduce our six new Houses: Trimble, Clow, Ridley, Bassett, Robinson and Creelman. Students enjoyed a day of interaction and celebration across the College.

To commence the year, we also proudly inducted our new Primary School Prefects and House Captains, recognising their role in leading and serving our student community. A great day of participation and enthusiasm was seen on the 5th of March at the Year 4 to 6 House Swimming Carnival, where we enjoyed a day of friendly competition and encouragement. Congratulations to Bassett House, who were crowned the inaugural champions for the new six House competition.

Our Upper Primary Boys and Girls represented the College incredibly well at the CPSSA Interschool Cricket Carnival, bringing home both A Division Shields for the first time. This is a wonderful achievement that reflects their teamwork, sportsmanship and skill and the great preparation for the event.
Students in our Primary Enrichment and Extension programs have embraced a range of exciting learning opportunities this term. These have included the Young Writers Workshop with Mark Greenwood, a Solar Car Challenge, Financial Literacy activities, a History Unearthing trip to Jarrahdale, and participation in the Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competition. It has been inspiring to see these Year 5 and 6 students engaging in these events, representing the College with curiosity and pride.

Our Year 3 and 5 students have also completed their NAPLAN testing for 2025, and we look forward to receiving the results of this testing in late July or early August.

Each week, our Friday morning Assemblies have been a highlight as students take the stage to present, perform, and be acknowledged for their positive contributions to their classrooms and the broader school community. It is always a joy to celebrate the efforts and achievements of our students in this way.

As we approach the final two weeks of Term 1, we look forward to our students engaging in further events, including the CPSSA Interschool Swimming Carnival and our Year 4 to 6 Easter Assembly.
Thank you to all students, staff and families for your support throughout what has been a successful start to the academic year. We pray God’s continued blessing on our Primary School community as we move towards the Easter season and the Term 1 holidays.
