Apraxia Day Year 4C

On Wednesday, 14th May, Year 4C participated in Apraxia Awareness Day with a range of meaningful activities that helped students learn about and empathise with those who have Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Thanks to the kindness of the Morris family, staff and students were gifted special Apraxia Day t-shirts, helping to raise awareness across the school.

Several students from Year 4C took the lead by visiting other classrooms to deliver informative presentations about what Apraxia is and how we can support individuals who have it. Their confident and compassionate approach was inspiring!

Back in the classroom, students participated in games designed to simulate the communication challenges faced by children with Apraxia. These activities helped build a deeper sense of empathy and understanding. The class also read books that highlighted the daily struggles and triumphs of children with Apraxia, sparking thoughtful discussion about resilience, perseverance, and strength.

Throughout the day, one powerful message rang clear: by showing patience, understanding, and kindness, we can all make a positive difference in the lives of those with Apraxia. Year 4C truly embraced this message and demonstrated what it means to be an inclusive and caring community.
