Our children have engaged in various sensory play and arts and crafts activities this term. I want to share that Mr Marwick set up activities in different areas of the room. He invited the children to explore with watercolours, offering opportunities to discover blending colours and new shades. These experiences support brain development, stimulate creativity, enhance fine and gross motor skills, and foster cognitive growth through hands-on exploration.
We have focused on the intentional teaching of colours, counting (1-10), and learning about David in the Bible. These activities are crafted to support children’s cognitive, numeracy, and spiritual development through purposeful and engaging methods.
We have been learning about sustainability and our environmental responsibility through using natural resources and recycled materials, which are thoughtfully incorporated into our daily activities. This approach nurtures an understanding of sustainability and environmental responsibility among the children.
Our nature play sessions and the introduction of animals such as birds provide children with immersive, hands-on experiences. These activities help deepen their connection to the environment.
Pyjama Day was a highlight for our children. We decorated the room with tepees and sheets, making a chill and quiet corner and a little cubby house. We hung up fairy lights, and children brought in their teddy bears; the day was filled with a joyful and relaxed atmosphere. This special day makes children feel safe and secure, promoting engagement and interaction with others. Thank you for participating in raising awareness for children in foster care.
We are excited to continue offering these enriching experiences and look forward to seeing the children thrive in our Pikanini 2 Room!
