The Kodomo Room has been full of fun, laughter, and excitement this term. Our friends have settled nicely into the routine, which has become a little easier and more predictable to follow. We have welcomed some new friends into the Kodomo room this term and they too have become a special part of our group, growing in confidence. We have a room of enthusiastic, busy, and happy little friends eager to learn and play each day. We have watched some special bonds forming amongst the children, which usually results in lasting friendships and relationships amongst the families and educators.
We have seen so much growth in all areas of the children’s development this term, from toileting and becoming more responsible for their belongings to learning to share as well as other social skills.
We have been working on skilling the children in various areas and have seen small victories over the past few months. Lining up and walking in a line behind friends is one example.
We have been focusing on number concepts and counting as well as shapes and colours. We have also been doing various fine-motor skills, including cutting, pinching pegs, picking up toys with tweezers, playdough, and threading. A big part of a child’s development is strengthening their large muscles and therefore physical literacy is a big part of our day, these include climbing, jumping, balancing and ball skills.
Some fun days this term included Mothers Day’s, and our friends created some special crafts for their mum. We also had National Pyjama Day which was enjoyed by children and educators alike. This caused some giggles and extra happy moments as the children thought it hilarious to see their educators in PJ’s.
We also enjoyed a “camping” theme in the Kodomo room this term and learnt a bit more about Insects too.
It’s been a wonderful term, witnessing season changes as well as growth in the little people we care for each day. Thank you, God, for your goodness and grace each day, we look forward more exciting months ahead.
