FROM THE PRINCIPAL Term 3 – 2025

Dear College Families

Thank you for all that you do in support of the College, its standards and expectations. The partnership between our staff and our parents/guardians is an important relationship for the development of our young people. Our staff deeply care about their students and as a College we all want to provide best opportunities for them. Within this context it is important to be reminded that from time to time and usually at two year intervals, our public facing policies are reviewed and updated for the following year. I refer you to our website for updates of College policies about enrolments, processes for disputes & grievances and other relevant process documentation, updated when due. In addition, standards for codes of conduct also require our students to present themselves with care as members and ambassadors of the College. These standards work to benefit our students for attending a quality school of good repute. Our uniform standards are an important part of these overall standards. Please support our staff in ensuring that students are adhering to the uniform standards which includes clean shaven boys in secondary, no facial piercings nor visible tattoos, no visible make up for girls, hair kept tidy and uniforms looking smart. Thank you in anticipation for your support on this matter. As we move into Term four and summer uniforms are back we trust our students will continue to present their uniforms with respect for College standards.

Our focus is holistic, and work has also been conducted in accordance with our strategic plan, to map the ways in which we will endeavour to enable our students from as early as Childcare, through Primary and Secondary to navigate through the College graduate outcomes (a shared values learning journey of: Wisdom, Courage, Love and Hope). May our students learn the benefits of these traits. We will be launching our C-12 graduate outcomes for students in 2026 with previews presented during Term 4, at specific occasions.

Term three has once again been full and congratulations are in abundance for all that our students and staff have achieved. The Debating teams have done very well, Athletics teams , Fittest in the West Teams, our Vocal and Music Students, our Football teams with our primary students maintaining the championships for seven years out of ten and our senior boys teams Years 7 & 8, 9 & 10 and 11 & 12 winning the finals. Well done to our girls for making the grand final as well. Well done to all our students for their remarkable achievements and co-curricular outstanding performances. The Little Mermaid (Secondary Production) and Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits (Primary Production) showcased exceptional talent amongst our students. Our attendance at the Governor’s Breakfast again this year with our student leaders was a wonderful experience.

Well done to our senior students for achieving these significant leadership positions.

You would have seen my announcement earlier that Mrs Jo Gudgeon has tendered her resignation to take a position in Karratha where her daughter and family live. We are so grateful for everything that Mrs Gudgeon has implemented in our K-2 program as our Deputy Head of Primary. Her expertise and experience with the implementation of Reggio Emilia and inquiry based learning together with other strategies for early learning have been outstanding! We shall miss Mrs Gudgeon, her sensible approach, her wisdom and her creativity and passion for education. We wish her the very best as she leaves to work closer to family. An Acting Deputy K-2 will be appointed as an interim position for 12 months and mid next year we will advertise the position for permanent placement.

As Term Four comes upon us and our Year 12s prepare for their final examinations and final assessments we wish our Class of 2025 the very best as they graduate from South Coast Baptist College. They have been a remarkable cohort and we shall miss them. Our prayers and thoughts go with them for a wonderful future ahead.

With every good wish and prayers for continued blessings upon our College community,

Dawn Clements
