This semester in 3C we are researching and learning about different countries and their celebrations from around the world.

Last term we took a close look at Australia’s neighbouring countries and the similarities and differences between them and Australia. We created posters and completed a passport as we ‘travelled’ from country to country.

This term we are looking at a variety of celebrations from other countries. Over the last two weeks we have learnt about Chinese New Year and Diwali- The Festival of lights. The students have been very fascinated bout the exciting ways each festival is celebrated and having a go at making some of our own decorations that are used.

The students have spent a lot of time developing their independent research skills, using the internet, books, articles and life experiences to gather information about each topic. They are particularly looking forward to using their research to design and create a diorama based on one of the celebrations we are learning about.
