THE RITE JOURNEY CALLING AND DEPARTURE CEREMONY

On Friday, 22nd February all year 9 students and their families attended the Calling and Departure Ceremony at Point Peron. This ceremony marks the beginning of the Rite Journey Program and the beginning of a journey into manhood and womanhood. All students in year 9 participate in this program as part of Health and Bible and Christian Studies. The students were asked to reminisce on their childhood, look at where they have come from and express gratitude to those who have been there for them over the years. They were then asked to embark on a journey into adulthood and leave their childlike behaviors behind. A highlight of the night was when the students found a spot along the beach with their parents and read them a letter of gratitude that they had written. The night consisted of meaningful conversations, thankfulness, perfect weather and a beautiful sunset sky in the background- it was a privilege to be a part of! Our Rite Journey students will now begin to plan their yearlong projects that will be presented at the Homecoming Ceremony in November.
