HOPE

WHAT DOES HOPE MEAN TO OUR STUDENTS?

There are many concepts in life that are loaded with meaning, and here at SCBC, we recognise the value in taking some time to define and explain them in a really practical way.

In the past, the primary school has looked into concepts such as ‘Friendship’ and ‘Wisdom’, and during Term 2 we have turned our focus to the SCBC value of ‘Hope’.

Our aim was to bring a concrete explanation of this God-given gift to the students so that they would know exactly what hope is and how they can apply it to their lives. So during this time of not being able to gather for assemblies, the well-being team put together a video on hope.

We want our students to know that hope is an attitude, a state-of-mind that they can choose. Hope is the expectation that something good can happen at any moment.

The Bible tells us that when we live in that expectation, we are filled with joy and peace. We serve a good God, and though we may not always know His ways or His timing, we have reason to live in the expectation that something good can happen at any moment.

Romans 15:13 says – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” … Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
