The Rockingham PhotoVoice awards took place again in October for its eighth year. The theme is Act-Belong-Commit, where students use photography and a ‘voice’ to show how to stay mentally healthy by Acting – doing something, Belonging – doing something with others, and Committing – to an activity with others. SCBC Design Photography students had over ten photographs accepted and exhibited at the Gary Holland Community Centre this year. At the awards Calais Pryce won both modified and non-modified categories for student workshops. Janikah Turner won two awards and Laura Mostyn won one.
During October, photographs from Laura Mostyn and Laura Rutherford were exhibited at Elizabeth Quay during the Mental Health Family Fun Day. This was part of the National Mental Health Week to raise community awareness of mental health issues.
Below are some examples of the PhotoVoice entries.
