Shaylah Ryan-Sherriff had a chance to work with Dr Thomas Becker, who manages the Scanning Probe Microscopy Facility in Curtin University. Shaylah is presently preparing for the IYPT (International Young Physicists’ Tournament) to be held in Singapore in July as part of the Australian national team. Dr Becker guided Shaylah as she measured surface forces for liquids on glass surfaces using equipment such as the AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) and the Contact Angle Goniometer.
