Recently, the College had the opportunity to support students in self-nominating for a scholarship to fully fund a week-long voyage on the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin.   The voyages are part of the annual Leeuwin Youth Explorer Voyage program that is operated by the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation.   This particular scholarship was fully funded by Rockingham-based RMD Tankers and supported by the Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce.

Three candidates were shortlisted – two from South Coast Baptist College – and the scholarship was awarded to Tameeka Taylor. While there could only be one winner, the application submitted by Calvin van Neikirk was considered of such strength to motivate the Foundation to seek additional sponsorship to part-fund another scholarship (for Calvin).
