The children of Kindergarten 3 have recently embarked on an adventure to Penguin Island. We have been inquiring about living things and what these living things need to survive. Through Project Based Learning we had created animal enclosures within our classroom. The excursion to Penguin Island was an extension of this learning. The children had a fascinating bus ride and ferry ride over to the Island. For most of the children these were their first experiences on public transport so it was very exciting.
While exploring the island we stumbled across a treasure map! Luckily we had been practicing our positional language so we were able to walk on top of the log, over the bridge, under the tree and through the cave where we found some treasure.
After this we had a lovely picnic lunch and saw the penguin show. The children had an amazing time and it was wonderful to see them demonstrate their knowledge through this adventure.
