ARTIST INCURSION AND STEAM BUILDING EXHIBITION

As part of the fresh new changes we have experienced in Visual Art this year at SCBC, new teacher Saffron Maclou brought in Artist, Serena Maclauchlan, to run an incursion with our Year 10-12 Visual Art students. The half-day of workshops included working with palette knives and impasto medium to paint a landscape, and working with binder medium and acrylic water washing to create depth in a mixed media portrait.

Both workshops focussed on colour mixing with warm & cool primary colours and exploring tints, shades and earth tones to create depth and develop atmospheric perspective. Students were extended academically and created some wonderfully aesthetic artworks as a result.

Exemplary student work was then exhibited in the new STEAM building as part of the official building opening.
