Football – Pool A
Today was brilliant. In our first game, we played well and managed to get a 10-0 win against All Saints.
After a short break, we had our next game where we faced up against St Stephen. The SCBC boys started off a bit slow but by halftime we had put 8 into the back of their net. A few substitutions helped make the result 12-0.
Finally, after playing 2 great games we had a break; 45 minutes for all of the boys to rest up. We had 2 games left. A win in both could secure us a spot in the state finals next week.
Our penultimate game against Ursula Frayne they weren’t as easy as all the other schools we played. Fortunately, we managed to put 8 goals into their net by full time.
Now it was time to face off against Sacred Heart. The win would get us into the State Final next week Tuesday. We went up 1-0 early into the first half but they were quick to equalise. The score at halftime was 3-1 to SCBC. Within a minute after kicking off in the second half Sacred Heart had scored to make it 3-2. It was a close game, but we managed to end up on top with a 7-2 win. Onto the state finals next week.
We want to thank our parents for coming out to support. Also, thanks to Chris Thackray for coaching. ACC for all their efforts in organising the day and competition.
Next weeks ‘Stan Lazaridis Shield Final’ will take place on Tuesday 23 October at 11 am at John XXIII College
