Junior Girls vs Balga SHS SSWA State Shield Final
In our first ever SCBC Girls State Grand Final, we were blessed with an amazing pitch at Dalmatinac Park as well as a 32-degree scorcher.
The game plan was to start conservatively and wait for the opportunity upfront.
Balga came out stronger in the 50/50 challenges, with our girls looking somewhat lethargic.
We used our right side more in the attacking phase with Ella Gillespie working her socks off, blitzing past the defenders and putting in quality crosses that were not capitalised, until Shareeckah Jones, hit one past the keeper to make it 1:0 for us, right on half time.
Second half we made slight changes bringing, birthday girl Rachel Gillies more into the game which paid dividends immediately.
There was more space upfront with diagonal runs by Megan and Ella, carving up the opposition, and SCBC never looked back.
Upon the final whistle blown, it was time for celebration.
First title ever for a SCBC Girls team and I am extremely proud to be part of this amazing school and an incredible bunch of girls.
Thanks to the organizers as well as Balga school for presenting themselves with great honour and respect on and off the pitch.
Finally, thanks to Carly Phoebe, Sarah Mullane, Tim Oates as well as the parents for being there for us.
God bless you all
