In Pre-Primary 1 we have been exploring living things and what they need to stay alive. To do this we have been gardening in the veggie patch, getting seedlings ready for the garden in our classroom, setting up our aquaponics fish tank, looking after our fish and stick insects, sharing ideas, and researching our ‘wonderings’. Students have loved identifying and exploring the living things inside and outside of the classroom. We are in the process of narrowing down the living things we want to research further.
Alongside this inquiry, students are participating in an Eric Carle author study where we have been learning about text features, identifying our favourite characters and what we like about them, and retelling the beginning, middle, and end of stories.
