“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV
Year 10 is a unique and pivotal year for our students as they start to work towards what path to take heading into senior school and explore potential career opportunities. As such, we are intentional about developing social and emotional intelligence, positive behaviours, and resilience to help navigate this new territory they are taking. We achieve this by running specialised programs in extended form, bringing in guest speakers to inspire and educate students around topical social issues and focussing on discovering their passions to assist them to wisely select their subjects and career path beyond.
The Year 10 Cohort has had a great start to 2022. We have welcomed four new students to our year group, it has been pleasing to see them fitting into the SCBC family and we wish them the very best for their next three years with us.
In Extended Form, each student in our cohort has had the opportunity to engage in our G.E.M program (through the Resilience Project) where the focus has been on identifying emotions and practicing mindfulness. Form teachers have also been facilitating group activities to allow students to build relationships and start the days off on the right foot.
This year there will be a particular focus on students’ futures. Each student will be involved in a Careers program which will give them a broad scope of vocation options they have once they graduate from our college along with skills that will assist them in the workplace. They will also cover topics such as; establishing healthy study habits, creating a good work ethic, choosing subjects and working closely with their teachers to manage work expectations to ensure that they transition into Year 11 and 12 with ease.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” As our students face the new year ahead of them, I encourage them to remember that they indeed can do all things with Jesus alongside them”. I look forward to witnessing the growth in our students over the year.
