YEAR 11

It seems like only yesterday where I was prepping our cohort about what to expect in Year 11 and some of the challenges they might face, and now suddenly we are at the end of Term 1.

This term has flown by, however as a cohort we have already achieved so much. We started the year by electing our four house prefects. We congratulate the following Year 11 students on being appointed:

Lucy Power for Kwilena House

Cameron Watts for Widi House

Taitam Ellis for Boodalang House

Angelina Montini for Yaakin House

These students will be exposed to opportunities throughout the year to improve their leadership skills and represent their house with pride!

Our school swimming carnival was a huge success with students from all houses participating in various events. As senior students, it is so important to set a standard of attendance on these days and create a positive culture within our college. Our new house system has been designed to provide a sense belonging and for students to take pride in their school. I was extremely proud of those students who did attend and who bought into the event! Our next event is the Cross Country/House Day Carnival next week Wednesday 05/04. This day will be a celebration, it will involve food trucks, live music, sports games and an option of many activities such as gaming, pottery, CrossFit and cooking (just to name a few). I am looking forward to students enjoying the celebrations!

Our extended form sessions have again proved to be a valuable time together. We have had Mrs Still provide ‘study sessions’ where students have been able to plan for their upcoming assessments. We have had GEM sessions, focusing on the topic of Coping With Stress where we have discussed many ways to handle stressful situations. Students have been challenged to implement some of these at home, feel free to ask them.

Lastly, as many students have already or are about to commence work placements and TAFE courses along with various assessments, I want to wish them all the best. Be reminded that stressful times will come and go, seek God in those times and have faith that he will give you the strength that you need.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Before we all know it, we will be sitting back relaxing on the beaches of Rottnest Island at the end of this year.
