This term has been jam-packed with numerous activities and end-of-year business. We started this term with an amazing holiday program, which included a brand-new excursion to the Glow Rooms 3D mini golf. The children had a great deal of fun navigating the 3D paintings on the floor and walls, figuring out where the obstacles for the golf ball were, and finding the best way to get the ball into the hole.
With our big move next year to the Kodomo/Koorlongka room, the children have been helping us plan what our new space will look like. All hands have been on deck as we’ve been cleaning, sorting, and moving things around to get ready for both our big move and the new floors being installed over the Christmas break.
Our Kids have been spending much time this term being incredibly creative and making many wonderful buildings and designs. We have had children working together on big projects on our construction mat, making tall towers and elaborate buildings, then enjoying sending them crashing down after they’re finished. We’ve also introduced some new connecting blocks that the children have been working hard on to create the best and largest patterns they can.
Christmas time has come early to our room, as there are no December Christmas holidays this year. We have been enjoying a variety of crafts and activities, with the most enjoyable being the opportunity for the children to create Christmas cards for their friends and family. We had many children making cards for their friends, both in and out of school, as well as for various family members and staff. After making their cards, they got to have a small candy cane to put with it, causing lots of kids to make cards for each other, so no one missed out on getting a candy cane of their own. One memorable card I gave a candy cane for was to a child who wrote a card to their “digestive tract”.
Overall, it has been a very busy, fun-filled term, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year. I hope everyone has a wonderful school holiday, and I look forward to sharing our experiences with you in the next newsletter.
