On the 9th of March, the Year 10 Drama students had the opportunity to take a break from a usual school day and travel into the city to visit the Black Swan State Theatre. When we arrived, we were taken on a really interesting tour of the whole theatre. We got to see places like the Heath Ledger Theatre, rehearsal studios, and the Theatre Underground, and learned about what happens in each space.
After the tour, we took part in a short workshop focused on lighting design, led by a professional lighting designer who has worked on many productions. After lunch, we participated in another workshop, this time on characterisation. This included a range of physical activities that helped us practise showing different emotions at different levels of intensity. The day finished with a quick train ride back to school before heading home.
